Sunflower Seeds: The Most Underrated Superfood in India
Sunflower seeds rarely get the marketing budgets of chia or pumpkin seeds, but nutritionally they are arguably superior for specific functions – particularly Vitamin E delivery, selenium content, and cardiovascular fat profile. One 30g serving of raw sunflower seeds delivers your entire daily Vitamin E requirement (10.5mg out of a 15mg RDA).
Yet 90% of sunflower seeds sold in India are either salted and roasted (destroying the Vitamin E) or stored in non-airtight packaging that allows polyunsaturated fats to oxidise. Oxidised omega-6 fats create inflammatory compounds in the body – the opposite of what you are trying to achieve.
Why Raw and Cold-Stored Changes the Outcome
Sunflower seeds are 50% polyunsaturated fat (primarily linoleic acid, an omega-6). These fats oxidise rapidly when exposed to heat, light, or air. Roasting accelerates oxidation dramatically – at 160 degrees C for 10-15 minutes, a significant portion of these fats become lipid peroxides. Woitpure Sunflower Seeds are raw, temperature-controlled from origin, and packed in UV-protected airtight pouches specifically to prevent this oxidation.
- 35mg Vitamin E per 100g – highest of any seed or common nut
- 58mcg selenium per 100g – thyroid function and immune signalling
- 21g protein per 100g
- 325mg magnesium per 100g
- Zero roasting – fats preserved, Vitamin E fully intact
- UV-protected airtight packaging – oxidation actively prevented

How to Use
Skin Health Protocol: 30g raw sunflower seeds daily for 30 days. Vitamin E is the primary fat-soluble antioxidant in skin cell membranes – it reduces UV-induced oxidative damage and slows collagen degradation. Visible improvement in skin texture typically from week 3-4 with consistent intake.
Raw Salad Topper: Add directly to any salad without preparation. Adds Vitamin E, 6g protein per 30g serving, satisfying crunch, and mild nutty flavour without overpowering other ingredients.
Sunflower Seed Butter: Blend 150g seeds in a food processor for 8-10 minutes, scraping sides regularly, until smooth and creamy. Add a pinch of salt. Peanut butter alternative – lower allergen risk, higher Vitamin E, similar protein profile.
Hormone Balance Cycle Syncing: 2 tbsp sunflower seeds daily during days 1-14 of the menstrual cycle. Linoleic acid from sunflower seeds supports healthy estrogen metabolism and progesterone production in the follicular phase.
